An exfoliator a day keeps the bad skin away! While searching for an exfoliator that wasn’t a harsh scrub (those pesky beads found in most formulas are too rough on your skin, by the way), I tried Dermalogica’s Daily Microfoliant after one of my best friends said she swears by it—and she has glowing skin.

I was hesitant at first to use the Microfoliant every day since most dermatologists recommend that you exfoliate your skin just once a week, but I couldn’t help but use it each night after just one try. Think of it as a polisher for your skin: The powder transforms into a creamy cleanser with just the right amount of grainy texture to get deep into your pores. After using it for a week straight in the shower at night, I noticed that my pores looked a little smaller, and the blackheads on both my nose and my chin were essentially nonexistent. Since then, I’ve gotten at least two other friends hooked on this magical powder.

It’s like no other exfoliator I’ve used before. Once mixed with water, the rice-based formula releases papain, salicylic acid, and rice enzymes to gently buff your skin. And thanks to brightening and calming ingredients like phytic acid from rice bran, white tea, colloidal oatmeal, and allantoin, my skin tone is more even than usual (I often have redness due to sensitive skin and a tad bit of rosacea), and I didn’t experience the inflammation I normally do when introducing a new product.

The best part about Dermalogica’s Daily Microfoliant is that, like its name suggests, it’s gentle enough for daily use. Sometimes, after wearing makeup all day and using micellar water and a cleanser to wipe it off, I still feel like my face is not as clean as I want it to be. But once I use the Microfoliant, my face feels clean as a whistle and super hydrated (though I never skip my favorite moisturizer afterwards). Also, because of its powder form, this is one of the easiest skincare products to travel with. It’s not subject to TSA liquid guidelines, but you can shop a 0.45-ounce travel size if you’d like.

To get the most out of the Microfoliant, mix just a half-teaspoon into wet hands—a little goes a long way. For the final touch, massage the product into your face for at least a minute so it can really work on your skin. You won’t regret that glow, I promise!
