We all know that big cities like Beijing and New York City have more pollution than most and could be doing some damage to our skin. But what about smaller towns throughout the country? Are the mountains of Colorado better than the plains in Oklahoma? Luckily, skincare brand Dermalogica has created a tool to figure out just that. In tandem with the launch of two new products (Barrier Defense Booster and Calm Water Gel), the brand also rolled out a new site, SkinSensitvityRisk.com.

"The site uses your location to assess your personal risk index for skin sensitivity based on the pollution, temperature, and humidity in your area in real time," explained a publicist for the brand. It's so simple to use, and I personally appreciate the fact that it's not another app because, who has space for that? You simply go to SkinSensitvityRisk.com and it will locate you or you can type in a location you want to measure. From there, it goes on to recommend products based on your risk level to treat your skin or prevent irritation.

If you want to get even more in-depth details about your skin, upload a picture and use the facemapping tool. It identifies what your main concerns might be based on your image and offers personalized product recommendations. It also lets you know where the closest Dermalogica store is if you'd like to go in and chat with a consultant in person.

Does it feel like your skin is freaking out for no reason at all? The best advice I've gotten from dermatologists is to go back to the basics. Use a gentler cleanser (try CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser $8.50; target.com) and moisturizer (try CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion $10.50; target.com) and then once your skin has calmed down, start adding in other products one at a time so you can determine what might be causing irritation.
