Jennifer Aniston Swears This Drugstore Product Helps Clear Acne
With access to every beauty product under the sun, you might think Jennifer Aniston uses the fanciest. But, no—turns out, she's just as cool and low-key as you'd hope she’d be. For her low-maintenance beauty secrets, read on.
Real Simple: Are you a beauty girl?
Jennifer Aniston: “In the 80s, I wore pancake makeup—black eyes and white skin—but then I moved to California and felt weird. It sounds cliché, but I wanted that fresh California glow.”
RS: Do you enjoy getting your hair and makeup done for work?
JA: “Oh, God, no. It’s so hard for me to sit still in the hair and makeup chair when I can get up, go workout, eat breakfast, and shower in that amount of time.”
RS: How do you take care of your skin? You’re 48, and your skin looks amazing.
JA: “I wash, use a toner with hyaluronic acid, then I mix and match serums, and finish with a light lotion. I use a face mist throughout the day. At night, I slather on Aveeno’s Positively Radiant Overnight Hydrating Facial. You leave it on and wake up with soft skin.”
RS: What about the skin on your body—do anything special?
JA: “After the shower, I put body lotion on when my skin is still wet and warm—it makes my skin softer.”
RS: Do you and Justin share any products in the shower?
JA: “We just both use whatever is in the shower, but he sometimes takes stuff from me.”
RS: What do you do when you get a zit—or don’t you get them?
JA: “Yes, I do. I just dab calamine lotion on it.”
RS: What’s your favorite deodorant?
JA: “Hmm..it’s not natural, but did you know you can get Botox in your armpits?!”
RS: How do you take care of your hair?
JA: “I don’t wash it everyday; I add oils—don’t ask me what kind because I don’t know. I recently got balayage [hair color] and it really damaged my hair—I thought it was all going to fall out—so right now it’s damaged, and I’m rehabbing it back so it’s not as blonde as I’d like it to be.”
RS: Who is your celebrity girl crush?
JA: “Alicia Vikander—she’s pretty special. And Jennifer Lawrence is easy to crush on.”
RS: What’s your favorite workout right now?
JA: “I’m preparing for a role, so I don’t get to the gym as much as I’d like. I’ve been doing treadmill interval workouts—sprinting, jogging, walking; as long as I have great music. I do yoga and, when I can, I go to The Class by Taryn Toomey. It’s such a treat—we sweat, scream, and cry. It’s exercise, therapy, and meditation—it’s so worth it.”
RS: What’s your favorite beauty treatment?
JA: “I love a great facial... and a body scrub and wrap."
