These New Nude Nail Polishes Promise to Cover All Skin Tones
Without washing you out or looking dingy.
Move over “Ballet Slippers” and “Topless and Barefoot,” there are some new nudes in town. While “no makeup makeup” and nude shades are trending right now, it can be hard for people with darker skin tones to find a color match. Most of them tend to look too light or even frosty. That’s why the founders of Mented (it’s short for pigmented) set out to create a makeup line that’s inclusive of darker skin tones. With these new shades, everyone will soon be able to have the perfect nude lipstick, blush, and more. The brand, which launched with lipstick, is experimenting with the limited edition nail polish set, but plans to expand to face products in 2018.
Cofounder KJ Miller commented on the news saying, “Since our March launch we’ve received so much amazing feedback from our community of Mented consumers. It’s been so gratifying to hear how excited these women are to finally be prioritized in the world of beauty, and we’re excited to continue doing this work with our summer product extension.”
The polish collection includes three shades: Pinkish, a soft pink; Yes We Tan, a rich nude; and Brown & Bougie, a deeper brown nude. The formula itself is deeply pigmented and opaque, so it shouldn’t take more than two layers to have you covered. They’re also vegan, cruelty free, and made in the USA.
