This $5 Product Helps Me Manage My Keratosis Pilaris
Simple but highly effective, this product has dramatically improved my annoying skin condition.
I’ve had Keratosis Pilaris, a condition that causes acne-like bumps to appear on the skin, since I was 11-years-old. Although the bumps don’t hurt or itch, they're incredibly annoying and not at all easy to get rid of.
I've tried lots of different products to help combat it, but I didn't have much luck until I discovered this small, green scrubbing mitt. It costs around $5 for a set of three that each last for a few months.
The mitts are so simple to use. After being in the shower for about 10 minutes, I start gently scrubbing with Neutrogena’s Pink Grapefruit Body Wash. I scrub my whole body down with it. You’ll be surprised to see how much dead skin is on your calves and stomach.
And here's the thing: the results happen right away. Since you’re literally shedding skin (you’ll see it come off onto the glove), your skin feels smoother instantly. I use avocado oil or lotion on my arms right when I get out of the shower so the smoother skin soaks up as much hydration as possible.
Modeled after the exfoliating mitts you find in Korean spas, it’s like the ultimate spa treatment from home. The mitt is made from pure Viscose, which means it’s highly abrasive and should be used on your face very very gently, if you’re trying to get rid of blackheads or shouldn’t be used on your face at all.
I still have Keratosis Pilaris and I don’t think it’ll ever completely go away. What the Korean bath mitt has done for me is make the bumps a lot less noticeable (they're also not as red).
