I recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Lisa Aiken, the retail fashion director for net-a-porter.com. For the uninitiated, Net-A-Porter is one of the most trusted names in luxury e-commerce. It's a go-to for those looking to splurge on the latest from names like Gucci and Fendi and an unfailing bellwether of the trends—and brands—that will take center stage each season.
Aiken was leading a group of editors through Net-A-Porter’s Fall/Winter trend presentation, and while there was a lot of prescient sartorial advice to snap up for the coming cold months (keep an eye out, come September, for red ankle boots and all velvet everything), one line, more applicable to the present, really caught my attention.
Aiken mentioned the luxury e-commerce giant was very excited about bringing on an emerging brand, but my ears perked up when I realized this wasn’t a brand that averages out at over $1,000 a piece, but rather one with a ceiling price point of $298 and options as low as $60.
Even better, Aiken predicted that the brand’s iconic piece, which retails for $280, is going to be “the most Instagrammed bag of the summer.”

The brand in question is Cult Gaia, a fashion label started in 2012 by Jasmin Larian, with the manifesto that “good design goes hand-in-hand with sustainability.” And the bag in question is their classic “Gaia’s Ark” bag, an effortlessly summery, perfectly-sized, go-with-everything, day or night clutch that you won’t want to put down until the warm weather ends.
