The One Thing I Can’t Survive Winter Without
This winter style staple will make you look forward to cold weather (really).
There’s one part of winter I actually look forward to. Every year, when the mercury starts to dip and we start pulling out the storage bins of sweaters and coats and gloves, my heart skips a tiny happy beat when I rediscover my very favorite accessory. No, it’s not a flashy pair of knee-high boots, or even a statement scarf. It’s a trusty winter wardrobe work-horse—a simple, grey beanie.
While it’s not the most exciting accessory I own, let alone the most eye-catching, this stolid winter style staple really has a lot going for it. The light grey color complements anything you wear it with, and adds that something “extra” to outerwear without going over the top. The beanie shape may endure occasional peaks of trendiness (see: 90’s grunge and its revival circa 2009), but is a classic enough style to never feel passé—not to mention it’s a silhouette that’s flattering to everyone’s face. And perhaps my favorite part: in slouchy, super soft cashmere, you don’t have to suffer itchy ears or that dreaded winter complaint, hat head (the looser shape won’t compress or dent your hair).
