Look very closely, and a few elements might be familiar.
The Royal Fab 4 isn’t just fabulous—they’re (relatively) economical.
On Monday, the Kensington Palace Instagram shared a photo of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. And while the new photo received global attention, something old caught ours.
Just in case we needed another reason to adore the family of soon-to-be five, we found one more: They re-wear their clothing.
You’ll notice Princess Kate is sporting a two-piece powder blue suit. This Jackie-O-inspired outfit was also worn by the duchess when she took her first royal solo trip to the Netherlands in October 2016.
Panning down to the pint-sized members of the family, you may recognize Prince George’s collarless seersucker button-down. That appears to be the same shirt the mini royal wore for his official fourth birthday portrait back in July.
Following in her mum and big brother’s footsteps, Charlotte wore the same smocked dress, white socks and blue shoes as she did when the family arrived in Berlin, Germany, in July. And it looks like dad Will liked his Germany outfit, too. The blue tie and navy suit he’s wearing in the new portrait are near-identical to his ensemble from the summer trip.
With everyone’s favorite famous family of four subtly reminding us to reuse and recycle, we can now confirm that re-wearing your favorite pieces for special occasions has the royal stamp of approval.
Will they style themselves similarly next year? With baby No. 3 due in the spring, it’s possible some of George or Charlotte’s hand-me-downs will make an appearance.
