It took Glossier 18 months and 248 tries to get its newest mascara just right. To make Lash Slick, the company used a Japanese fiber technology that promises incredibly long eyelashes with a weightless feel, so you can wear it every day (not just on special occasions).

As soon as we heard about Lash Slick ($16; we had to try it. Does it live up to its long lash-promise—without unsightly clumping and flakiness? Keep reading to find out.

“I have flat, small lashes, so I need a mascara that means serious business. I love the effortless, whispy effect of Lash Slick and the no-clump application process, but since my lashes need serious help, I’ll stick with a volumizing mascara for my top lashes, and use Lash Slick on the bottom to create a wide-eyed look.”— Tamara Kraus, Assistant Home Editor

“I’m lucky enough to have long and curly eyelashes to begin with. The mascara brush is hard and feels like it’s separating each lash which I liked. There’s nothing I hate more than heavy clumpiness. I was skeptical at first but the formula feels so weightless and gave me insane length (after just one coat!). It doesn’t feel like anything is on my eyelashes and since I normally don’t wear mascara, I feel like I could wear this everyday.”— Hannah Norling, Associate Producer

“The tips of my eyelashes are blonde, so usually the difference between wearing mascara and going mascara free is pretty dramatic. Glossier’s new mascara combed through my lashes really smoothy, causing no clumps, and it definitely darkened and lengthened in the process. It didn’t add much thickness, though, so I’d say it’s a pretty good day-time option but not my top choice for a night out when I like to have more dramatic, super black eyelashes.”— Claudia Fisher, Lifestyle Editor

This isn’t going out mascara. You’re not going to get lashes that look like mini fans. You will get lashes that look like yours but are incredibly long. (If your eyelashes are more on the straighter side, it might take a few coats for best results.) Verdict: Glossier did good work with this one. Lash Slick really is a great every day mascara!
