If you search "mascara" on Sephora's site, 275 results come up. The same search on Amazon brings up over 10,000 results. So let me make it easy for you if you have no idea what you're looking for but know you want the best mascara available. The best, according to 340,000 Sephora customers, is Too Faced's Better Than Sex Mascara ($24 at

What that means is 330,000 people have felt strongly enough about Too Faced's best-selling mascara to log into their Sephora accounts, pull up Better Than Sex in the mascara base or their purchase history, and hit the heart button to show they love it.

Of the more tha 6,000 people who have gone even more out of their way to write a five-star review, some benefits they express include: lengthening, thickening, fuller lashes from the roots, a rich black pigment, and the curl holds all day. A few people say that their natural lashes are "nonexistent" or "unimpressive," but Better Than Sex Mascara turned that around for them.

As Too Faced's co-founder and chief creative officer, Jerrod Blandino, explains in a video uploaded by Sephora in 2014, the hourglass-shaped brush with "extra stiff bristles" helps this product stand out from the competition.

Since then, Too Faced's Better Than Sex Mascara has only continued to establish its reputation as the best mascara.

Some of the less-than-five-star reviews still note a lot of the pros people have come to love about the product but also mention Better Than Sex Mascara can clump. That's why it's always good to have a mascara comb on hand to run through your lashes before they solidify—or worse, before you completely smudge black all over your eyes trying to separate lashes by hand and have to wash your face and start all over.
