A cosmetics startup is giving away acne-fighting patches all of June.
Most people know June is LGBTQ Pride Month, but it also happens to be Acne Awareness Month. To celebrate, cosmetics startup Hero Cosmetics is giving away packs of its inaugural product, the pimple-absorbing Mighty Patch.
Hero Cosmetics’ founder and Korean beauty expert Ju Rhyu explained, “June is Acne Awareness Month, but we know that if you have acne, the last thing you want is to be MORE aware of it. Instead, Hero Cosmetics will be spending the month offering REAL solutions.”
Acne is the most common skin condition in the United States, affecting up to 50 million Americans a year, according to the American Academy of Dermatology. In 2013, acne was also linked to $1.2 billion in medical costs and lost productivity as people sought medical treatment for their skin. Even though acne is most common in people between the ages of 12-24, you can experience the condition at any age–in fact, acne in adults has been increasing and now affects up to 15 percent of women.
Until June 30 (or while supplies last), you can get a pack of six pimple-fighting patches for the $1 shipping fee only from Hero Cosmetics. The circular sticker patches are made with hydrocolloid, a substance best-known for its ability to heal wounds. In this case, Mighty Patch is a hydrocolloid dressing that extracts the pus or liquid from your pimples overnight. Hero Cosmetics says the patch turns white by morning with absorbed pus (ew, but also kind of satisfying?).
To get some of a six-pack of the acne-fighting patches to try out for free, head over to Hero Cosmetics' site, and the discount will be applied at checkout.
