This Classic Hairstyle Is Having a Major Moment

While the skintight catsuits and the billowing ball gowns on the red carpet at the 2017 Met Gala may not be practical for everyday wear, one approachable beauty trend did stand out. Several celebrities attended the event sporting a fresh new chop. Here, three we loved—and what to ask for at the salon to steal the look.

Selena Gomez’s middle-parted, shoulder grazing ‘do looks so effortless and sophisticated. Have your stylist use a razor on the ends to help them sit seamlessly and create more of a “lived in” look. The middle part and long layers helps elongate rounder faces, too.

Karlie Kloss debuted a sleek platinum bob on the red carpet. To get the cut you’ll want to ask your stylist for an angled bob—slightly longer in the front than in the back—that grazes your chin. This style works best with a side part, so that one side can swoop down in front and the other side can be tucked behind your ear or pulled back with an accessory. This look suits all face shapes.

If you want to go a little more avant-garde a la the Met Gala theme, try Kerry’s style. Keep your length just between your chin and shoulders. Ask your stylist to use a razor to create texture and layers throughout your hair., then have them make a blunt chop to create bangs just above your eyebrows. This style works best on longer faces and also helps highlight your eyes.
