Starting in early 2018, our dreams of having Target essentials delivered to our door in less than 24 hours will finally become a reality. Today, Target announced some incredible news: the retailer will acquire Shipt, a growing same-day delivery company, which will help the company offer much speedier shipping. As much as we love wandering the aisles in search of that amazing concealer or miraculous pan scrubber we didn’t know we needed, we’re even more excited to browse from the comfort of our couch.

According to the company’s press release, same-day delivery will be available at about half of Target stores by early 2018, and it will be an option in the majority of stores by the 2018 holiday season. This is going to revolutionize how we shop for holiday presents next year.

“Same-day delivery is a service that our guests are asking for more and more often,” says John Mulligan, Target’s chief operating officer, in the press release. “By acquiring Shipt, we’ll be able to take advantage of our network of stores and Shipt’s technology platform and shopper community to quickly offer same-day delivery to millions of our guests.”

The one catch about same-day shipping at Target, is that, like Amazon Prime, it will cost you. To get Shipt delivery through Target, shoppers will need to sign up for a $99 annual membership with Shipt. Starting in spring 2018, you can start checking Shipt.com to see if the Target store in your area has rolled out the delivery service yet.
