Sephora Loyalty Card Points Now Have Expiration Dates
Need to start spending those points you’ve been saving up? We did a little digging to figure out the best products to choose.
Sephora’s beloved rewards program is making a serious change in its policy. The store is now enforcing an expiration date on your precious stash of points—regardless of your membership status. Your rewards will be voided after 18 months if you choose not to use any at all, which means it’s time to start spending them.
The Beauty Insider program offers so many amazing products, it can be hard to know how to spend your points. If you’re looking for more options, your best bet is to head online rather than check out the choices by the cash register. We’ve rounded up the top-rated items so you don’t have to spend time investigating. Each product has a rating of 4.5/5 stars, so we know they won’t disappoint.
For those who have 100 points, there are several highly-rated goodies to choose from. Consider the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil for a fun summer color, the Buxom Lash Mascara for a voluminous mascara, the Tocca Stella fragrance for a citrus perfume, the Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Colour for a pretty dusty rose lip look, the Make Up For Ever Aqua XL Color Paint Shadow for a beach-proof eye shadow, or the Yves Saint Laurent Mon Paris Eau de Parfum for a flowery and fruity scent. Whatever you end up picking will be the perfect new addition to your makeup collection—guaranteed by fellow Sephora fans.

If you’ve been saving up some extra points and are looking to get an item for 250 points, we recommend trying the Ole Henriksen sample collection, because it gives you more variety than the L’Occitane Dream Moisturizing Duo. Both have extremely great reviews, though, so you can’t go wrong choosing either one.
Got 500 points in your Insider account? The available options are all amazing, but we have a few favorites. The Alterna Haircare Caviar Anti-Aging collection has the highest-rated products that promise to give your mane a first-class treatment. Other options that have slightly lower (but still quite high) ratings are the First Aid Beauty Beauty Script set, the Amika Treat, Style, Extend collection, and the GlamGlow #HelloSexy assortment. If you’re not in the market for any of those products, consider getting a custom makeover. A Sephora Makeup Advisor will give you a full 45-minute makeover and include tips and tricks that you can use afterwards.
But if you decide to go shopping in the actual store and find yourself at the cash register panicking about what to choose (we’ve all been there), we heard from a retail associate in New York City that the Buxom Lash Mascara is the best seller of the moment, so if you’re thinking about trying it out, now is the time. Take the new expiration date policy as a reason to treat yourself to something special.
