For most of us, finding something to buy at Nordstrom is all-too-easy, and then their top-notch customer service keeps us coming back. This fashion-forward retailer somehow manages to successfully cater to just about everyone, regardless of age or personal style. Carrying designer labels across it’s wide range of clothing, shoes, beauty products, and housewares, Nordstrom is the high-end department store that has it all—yes, amazing deals included. While they do carry a lot of expensive items, if you learn how to shop Nordstrom the right way following the tips below, you can snag high-fashion finds without the designer price tag. Here are 9 hacks for shopping Nordstrom every deal-hunter should know about.

To keep its pricing competitive in the market, Nordstrom typically adjusts its prices to reflect the sales prices offered by brands. For example, if Coach has a sale, there's a good chance the price of that Coach bag you've been coveting on will also drop. However, if you do end up finding the same item in stock at another retailer for a lower price, Nordstrom will offer you the competitor’s deal.

Likewise, if you purchase something within 14 days of the item going on sale at Nordstrom, the retailer will happily to do a one-time adjustment. To get the savings, either visit a store in person with your receipt, or call their customer service number and they’ll refund the difference. Do your research, and you'll always know you're getting the best deal possible.

The sales at Nordstrom are fairly predictable, happening around the same time each year, so mark your calendar now. Besides their Black Friday sale, you also won't want to miss the giant Anniversary Sale that takes place each July and the Half-Yearly Sales scheduled twice per year. On the FAQ page on their site, navigate to “Coupons, Promotions & Sales," to find the most up-to-date sale information. Once Black Friday deals are over, the next Half-Yearly Sale is scheduled to start on December 26, 2018. Beware, products sell out very quickly during these sales, so it’s best to shop early.

Not sure if that dress goes with those shoes? Unsure what to wear to a wedding that's "garden attire"? Nordstrom's on-call style experts can help. On, you can choose to chat with a personal, beauty, or wedding stylist who will be able to answer your questions and guide you towards the right products. Either set up an appointment with a stylist in a store near you, or you can choose to chat over the phone. For an in-store appointment, the stylist will pick out items just for you, according to your likes and dislikes, and set them aside in a private dressing room for you to try on. This service may feel luxurious, but it's always completely free. It's no wonder Nordstrom is known for its incredible customer service.

With such an accommodating return policy, it’s easy to see why this retailer inspires such confidence in its customer base. The store approaches returns on an individual, case-by-case basis and generally accepts any form of purchase evidence, whether it's a receipt or credit card, and refunds according to your original form of payment. And even if you don't have proof of purchase, the retailer may still decide to offer a refund via a gift card.

Even better: while most stores have a timeline for returns (within 30 days, etc.), Nordstrom has no stated time limit. Nordstrom's goal is to treat returns fairly and make their customers happy, so if your new boots or coat doesn't work out, don't hesitate to reach out to them.

This fall, Nordstrom revamped its rewards program, introducing the new "Nordy Club," and bringing even more rewards and saving to its loyal card members. Being a card member not only equals rewards, but it also gives you early access to sales, beauty and style workshops, and credits toward tailoring. Card members earn triple points for every dollar they spend, while members (without a card) earn one point per dollar spent. For every 2,000 points collected, you’ll earn $20 to spend at Nordstrom. Those points will add up fast, believe me!

If you know where to look, you can find dozens of perks here that won’t cost you a single penny. With a team of tailors that work on-site, Nordstrom offers complimentary basic alterations for most full-price items. The alterations department will also gladly clean any stain or replace any missing buttons on merchandise you find in store. So, if you find something that’s truly one-of-a-kind, but has some signs of wear, don’t abandon it just yet. They may even be able to sell you the damaged item at a reduced price.

For footwear that doesn’t quite fit, you can pick up some inserts or have your shoes stretched, entirely free of charge. Their extremely knowledgeable style experts also offer gratis styling advice should you need it. And don’t forget your complimentary gift with select purchases that rotate throughout the year. Check the "Gift With Purchase" page on to find out what the latest deals are.

Nordstrom gift cards are a beautiful thing. They never expire or accrue inactivity fees, meaning you don’t ever have to worry about losing the chance to spend them, and making them a perfect present for any shopping procrastinators you may know.
