We’re now the sisterhood of the baby boot cut.

I know everyone says they have a hard time shopping for jeans, but I really do have the worst time shopping for jeans. If I can squeeze them up around my thighs, they’re way too big around the waist. If I can get them to zip up around my large butt, they’re so long that they drag on the floor. It doesn’t matter what price point I look at: I have this problem with a $20 pair or a $200 pair.

Despite my love-hate relationship with denim, I was so excited to hear that flared jeans are back in style this season, as skinny jeans never fit right around my curvy shape, despite all the wriggling and squirming. I immediately headed straight for the Gap to shop for a pair and, much to my surprise, found the absolute best jeans of all time: the baby boot cut.

These “baby boot” are mid-rise, preventing any unflattering (and uncomfortable) tightness around the hips. They’re flared without looking like bell-bottoms, so even straight-leg devotees can give them a try. They’re tight in all the right places, but have just enough spandex to be forgiving for larger-hipped ladies.

I have never received so many compliments on anything I own. Every time I wear them, my girlfriends comment on how perky my backside looks. They loved them on me so much that both my roommate and best friend ordered pairs for themselves. All three of us have totally different body shapes, but the pants look good on us all.

The jeans run from sizes 24-35 and there are also tall, regular, and petite height choices, so many will be able to find a pair that’s just their size. The style comes in a number of washes, but I love the medium indigo pair—they’re dressy enough for my job with a pair of wedges, perfect for a night on the town with some heeled boots, or even a great everyday jean to wear with sneakers.

I love them so much that I went back and bought a pair in black, too.
