Spanx Faux Leather Leggings

I have a love-hate relationship with leggings. The comfortable ones don’t seem dressy enough to wear to work, yet the dressy ones always cut into my sides and aren’t as comfortable. But that all changed when I tried Spanx Faux Leather Leggings ($98; I know what you’re thinking—how can Spanx be comfortable?

Trust me. The signature Spanx high-waisted control top keeps everything in, so you don’t feel vulnerable (I'll even wear a shorter sweater with these on!), but is high enough that it’s still comfortable. Plus, the waistband doesn’t roll down (no hiking your pants up all day!). As long as you can deal with a little tugging to get them on, you'll experience nothing but comfort all day long.

Plus, the texture of these pants can't be beat. The faux leather finish really dresses them up. You can elevate the look with heels for work, or go more casual with boots and a comfy sweater for the weekend. And as a true bonus, they’re machine washable! Just turn the leggings inside out and let them air dry.

If you're still not convinced, it turns out some other editors in the Real Simple office share my affinity for these chic leggings. Here’s what they had to say:

“They’re literally my two favorite things combined: Spanx and leggings! Most leggings don’t give my curves enough support, but these smooth and lift everything so I can wear them as pants.” – Heather Muir Maffei, beauty director

“I love these for so many reasons, but primarily because of the wide waistband at the top. They don’t suck you in like traditional Spanx might, but they give enough compression so that they’re still flattering and comfortable. I opted for the faux leather style and the fabric is thick enough that they feel like actual pants. These leggings and an oversized sweater have become my go-to fall-to-winter outfit.” – Stephanie Sisco, home editor
