Raise your hand if you’ve ever been in a fashion rut. That was me a few weeks ago when I finally made the closet switch from winter to spring and summer clothes, and I noticed I hated all of my wardrobe choices for the warmer weather. Going from safe, all-black outfits during the winter to trying to pick out outfits each morning for work that weren’t boring (and also weren’t head-to-toe black) was getting tough with my slim selection of colors and patterns for spring.

That’s when I discovered the fashion subscription box company DAILYLOOK. Instead of having to waste precious free time in the evenings after work or on the weekends to shop for new outfit essentials for spring, I thought finally trying out a clothing subscription box would help ease all of my shopping woes. (Who really wants to spend time trying on clothes and waiting in long lines anyway?!)

How does the DAILYLOOK clothing subscription box work?

With so many subscription boxes on the market, from Frank And Oak to Rent the Runway, it may be hard to decide which is the best, but DAILYLOOK was a great place to start for a newbie like myself. What I love most about DAILYLOOK is that there are stylists on-hand to help pick out up to 12 pieces every month. I first filled out a very detailed style profile, which goes over several questions about your body type and proportions, asks you to rate the colors, patterns, fabrics, and styles you’re most likely to wear or not, and even shows you photos of outfits within a certain aesthetic to help pinpoint your look.

After you complete the style profile, your DAILYLOOK stylist will select the pieces she thinks are best for you, and before they are shipped to you each month, you have the ability to preview your items and remove a few styles before receiving your box. In my style profile, I noted that I really needed dresses and skirts rather than tops and pants, and in my box of 11 items I was pleased to receive five dresses, one skirt, one pair of jeans, and four tops. I ended up keeping four dresses and one skirt, including this floral maxi, this printed midi dress, and this sleeveless button mini dress (pictured below), and I’m so excited to wear everything through summer!

When you receive your little blue box, you’ll notice that your items come with a handy styling note from your stylist. My stylist Veronica kept in mind that I live in New York (where the spring weather can’t make up its mind), so she made sure to include options that I could wear now and stretch into warmer summer days. She also included several tips on how to accessorize a few pieces, like styling a high-neck printed dress (which I kept) “with a high boot for a ‘70s-inspired vibe or with a cute slide sandal.” For those who often don’t know how to style a piece of clothing they typically wouldn’t buy themselves, these tips are super helpful in knowing what to pair with what.

How much does the DAILYLOOK clothing plan cost?

After receiving your box and trying everything on, you have five days to decide what you want to keep, and then you’ll simply send back the rest. Each item’s price is listed out on the packing slip, and you’ll be charged for each item you keep. Since I kept five items, I got to use an exclusive offer for first-time customers, which includes 50 percent off one item when you keep three, or 50 percent off two items when you keep five. While there’s a $40 styling fee charged per box, you can use that toward any item you purchase, and shipping is free each way. Plus, right now there’s a special offer for Real Simple readers. Use the code REALSIMPLE20 to receive $20 off your first styling fee when you sign up for DAILYLOOK. Trust me, you won’t regret it!
