Pinterest shared its list of 100 trending ideas for for the new year, based on ideas that are just starting to gain mainstream traction. Here, the beauty trends that are on the list and products you can buy to get the look.

Long, Lush, Lashes

While the brow trend is still going strong, the new feature to over-emphasize for 2018 is lashes. The longer and fuller, the better. To really make it all about eyes, pair your lashes with a bare eyelid so they can really stand out and make a statement. For major volume, we like IT Cosmetics Superhero Elastic Stretch Volumizing Mascara ($24;

Cleansing Oil

If you like suds when you cleanse your face, then a cleansing oil might not be for you. But if you wear a lot of makeup or are looking for a more hydrating cleanser, then you’ll definitely agree with this trend. Cleansing oils are applied to dry skin and melt away makeup without leaving skin feeling squeaky clean or tight. We like Marie Veronique Pure + E.O. Free Oil Cleanser ($40;

Complexion Matching Makeup

The demand for customized products is on the rise and people are expecting more, which is why there’s also a demand for products with a wider range of shades to match many different skin tones. Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation ($43; has a whopping 40 shades to choose from.

Hair Extremes

2017 was all about the "lob" but 2018 is all about going to the extreme lengths, with “long hair” and "pixie" both trending on Pinterest.

Graphic Nails

Instead of the intricate nail art that was first popular, it’s now all about clean lines and modern shapes on nails. Try a negative space manicure or simple lines like a black stripe down the center of a white nail.

Bright Eyes

Switch up your makeup routine for the new year by adding a touch of color to your eyes. Whether it’s blue on your bottom lash line or a dot of gold on the inner corner, it’s a simple way to highlight your eyes. We love to get inspiration from makeup artist Katie Jane Hughes on Instagram. Try Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil ($20;

Derma Roller

These tiny wheels are filled with little needles that you roll across your skin to help the skincare products you use go deeper into the skin and therefore work more effectively. The tiny “wounds” made by the needles also sends collagen and elastin production into overdrive to repair, and in turn is great for healing acne scars. Try GloPro Microneedling Regeneration Tool ($199;

Makeup Kits

If it seems too overwhelming to curate your own makeup collection, not to worry, brands are now coming out with curated palettes that include everything from blush, to eyeliner, to concealer. We love this Maybelline Gigi Hadid Jetsetter Palette ($20; that even includes a mascara.

Lip Tints

The trend for makeup continues to be a natural, lived-in look. Which is why it makes sense that a lip tint would be trending. Think of it as looking like you just sucked on a red lollipop or popsicle. The color is melted into lips for a fresh, youthful look. Get the effect with this Lancôme Juicy Shaker ($22;

Textured Hair

Embrace your natural texture. Whether that be straight, wavy, or curly, it’s all about going with the flow and enhancing what you were born with.
