Travel booking website Skyscanner recently analyzed historic flight data from 2015 to determine when you should book your last-minute flights to popular destinations for admiring fall foliage in the United States.

They then looked at which cities were searching for these destinations the most to narrow down their results.

Whether you want to gaze at the changing color of maple leaves in Burlington, Vermont, the lush green forests of Manchester, New Hampshire, the rich hues of golds and reds in the parks of Boston, Massachusetts, or the golden aspen leaves in Denver, Colorado, you still can at relatively low prices.

Below are the best weeks to book a flight to the major airports in each of the four cities for travel times between Sept. 12-Oct. 21, 2016:

  • From Washington, D.C.: Book the week of August 29 for a potential savings of 5 percent (average yearly flight cost is $201).
  • From San Francisco, California: Book the week of September 5 to avoid an increase on the average ticket price (average yearly flight cost is $392).
  • From Charlotte, North Carolina: Book the week of August 22 for a potential savings of 53 percent (average yearly flight cost is $215).
