If you're an avid Amazon shopper, but haven't yet signed up for the Amazon Prime program, there's no time like the present. For just one day, the retail giant is offering the yearly subscription service at a steep discount.

Shoppers can get Prime, which normally costs $99, for $79—that's a 20 percent discount. The sale will last for just over 24 hours, beginning at 12 am EST on Friday, November 18, and ending at 11:59 pm PST later the same day.

Not sure you need a Prime membership? Though free two-day shipping is pretty convenient and cost-effective, the service offers so much more. In fact, the other benefits may be worth even more than the shipping policy alone. Members also get unlimited photo storage, access to video and audio streaming services, member's only deals, Prime Now (a two-hour delivery service available in select cities), restaurant delivery, Prime Reading (a service that lets you borrow books, magazines, comics, and other reading materials), and more.

Prime subscriptions renew on a yearly basis, so the fee covers all of the above features (plus more) for a full 365 days before you'll be charged again. You can even share select benefits with up to two other adults living in the same household. Shareable services include free shipping, free video streaming, photo storage, early access to sales, and more. Just don't forget to add them in Amazon Household.

If you own Amazon's Tap, Dot, or Echo, you can also control a variety of household devices, like smart lights, garage doors, thermostats, and more.
