Both Holocaust survivors, 33-year-old New York City factory manager Ben met Stella, 23, on a blind date―his first of two blind
dates that night―while on vacation in Tel Aviv. Two nights later, Ben, now 84, proposed, and they wed a week later. The Miami,
Florida couple, who has two children, “We don’t sweat the small stuff,” says Stella, 74. “What Ben and I endured early on
taught us that peace and a good heart are the most important things.”

Their Secrets to a Happy Marriage
1“Ben doesn’t say, ‘I love you,’ and I don’t force him to. Instead, I appreciate it when he brings me a sandwich in bed. Especially
since he hates crumbs in the sheets,” says Stella.
2“Don’t get angry over more than one thing at a time. People jump around from one issue to another,” says Ben.
3“We still kiss. We’re affectionate. But it comes naturally. It doesn’t happen for show. Sometimes we just lay down in bed
and hold hands,” says Stella.
