Host a Treasure-Hunt Party
For a birthday party that is as good as gold, consider an outdoor treasure hunt, complete with pirates, planks, and a cake filled with tasty hidden loot.
The Scene
- Toss fish netting ($4, luauexpress.com) over a blue paper tablecloth and create a table runner using starfish ($15 for 12, jamaligarden.com), or use a life preserver as a centerpiece.
- Let eye patches (available at costume stores) serve as napkin holders, and make pirate hats out of newspapers (to download a pattern for the hats, click the above icon).
- Make a list of pirate lingo, using select words and phrases.
