DIY Sneakers

Plain canvas shoes may be a great option for everyday wear, but you’ll get way more style points (and the same comfort) out of this bedazzled pair.

Everyone should have a comfortable walking shoe on hand, but comfortable doesn’t have to mean boring. Glittered canvas shoes add just enough sparkle to any ensemble—but the ready-made versions can come with surprisingly hefty price tags. Instead, spend an afternoon making DIY sneakers. Simply pick up affordable plain white canvas shoes at your local discount store (or, even better, spiff up a dirty old pair), then grab a few supplies—tape, craft glue, glitter, and a paintbrush—that you likely already have on hand. In a few hours, you’ll have gorgeous glittered shoes for a fraction of the cost. Plus, you really can’t put a price on some fun arts and crafts time with the family.
