Creating Your Wedding Album

Tips to put together the album that truly tells the story of your wedding.

  • Set aside an afternoon or early evening when you and your husband can relax and tackle the task.

     
  • When looking through your proofs, be sure to handle them with care. Wear thin cotton gloves, such as Adorama Darkroom Cotton Gloves ($4.50 for four pairs, adorama.com), so you don't smudge the prints or proofs.

     
  • Earmark the photos you like with sticky notes or flags in various colors. Use the colors to group images into categories: getting ready, the ceremony, the cocktail hour, the reception, special moments, and so on. Don't forget to include photos of important family members and friends, and you and the groom with the bridal party, and detailed shots of the cake and the venue. The number of pictures you choose for each category is up to you, but keep in mind that final number of photos you've elected to have in the finished album.

     
  • Once you've made all your decisions on the photos and the layout of the album, return the proofs to the photographer and he or she will put together the book. Depending on the chosen package, you will either be able to keep all the proofs after the album is delivered or you can purchase them.
