REAL SIMPLE. REAL LIFE. foodie Nathan Lyon shares his favorite way to warm up during the winter months.

Ingredients

  1. Check 1 gallon apple cider, preferably freshly pressed
  2. Check 3 sticks cinnamon
  3. Check Zest of one orange, removed with a zester or vegetable peeler
  4. Check 8 whole cloves
  5. Check 1 vanilla bean, seeded and cut in half
  6. Check 1/4 cup honey, preferably orange blossom
  7. Check 1/2 cup brandy (optional)

Directions

  1. In a large pot, combine all ingredients and heat on low on stovetop.
  2. Stir occasionally until very warm, then serve in mugs with a cinnamon stick for garnish. Note: The cider can be kept warm on the stovetop all day on the lowest heat setting. Do not allow the mixture to boil.
