Most fabric shades are washable; check the care instructions. If the shade is soiled, submerge it in a bathtub filled with lukewarm water and a capful of fabric-safe detergent, such as Ivory. Using a clean, soft cloth or a sponge, wash it with an up-and-down motion. Rinse by dipping it in lukewarm water, and blot dry with a terry-cloth towel. Finish with a hair dryer on the cool setting, holding it about six inches from the shade.

Care Tip: To dust the shade, hold it by the top center of the frame (not the edges) and tap with the palm of your hand.
