A Lean, Mean Mail Machine
The organizationally challenged will feel better just looking at this cabinet (shown). At 39 1/2 by 24 1/4 by 15 1/4 inches, it’s small enough to push into a closet (on hidden casters) but handsome and substantial enough to stand on its own. A caddy for a checkbook, pens, envelopes, and other mail-centric accessories lifts out to be carried wherever you want it, or use the slide-out tabletop as a desk. Pockets on both sides can hold magazines and catalogs until you’re ready for them, and you can use the two roomy drawers to organize the rest of your mail — perhaps make one your in-box and one your out-box. When you’re done, save what you need in the hanging-file drawer. People with lots of bills to deal with each month might even consider using this handy piece of furniture solely as its name — the Bill Payer Cabinet — implies. Made of pine and pine veneer, it’s available with a white or black finish.
