Craft a Foyer Out of a Room Corner
Even if a corner is all you have, the right tools will give it the functionality of a foyer.

You can contain a lot of the clutter in the Country Corner storage locker ($399; available in three colors; L.L.Bean, 800-809-7057, www.llbean.com). It has three vertical compartments, each with two shelves, and hooks for hanging scarves, bags, and raincoats.

The Flip hook ($33, Umbra, 800-387-5122, www.umbra.com) holding the jackets has hooks that pull down when you need them and fold away when you don't.

The Logga shoe rack ($20, Ikea, see www.ikea-usa.com for store locations) has roomy slatted metal shelves for fast drying and ample storage space.

The Design Ideas mesh valet umbrella stand ($15, Cocoon, 800-842-4352) at left is narrow and sensible in a small space.
