Transform a Vanity into a Work Space
With a desk as feminine as this piece, you might even forget that you’ll be using it to work. The same holds for accessories that get the job done but are pretty enough for a boudoir.

How to Set It Up
  • If the vanity serves more than one purpose, designate drawers for different uses. Keep cosmetics and a mirror in one, scissors and a stapler in another.
  • For a cohesive look, use materials and colors that go well with your bedding. And feel free to mix styles. Here, a traditional chair, a modern lamp, and a retro phone complement one another.
  • Transparent holders let you see pens and pencils at a glance but are inconspicuous enough to keep the room light and airy.
  • Place everyday essentials within close reach. Stash rarely used office supplies in under-bed wicker boxes.
  • Include comfy touches, like an upholstered chair and a soft Flokati rug.

  • The Goods
  • Haga desk (44 by 22 1/2 by 30 1/2 inches), $1,800.

  • To Buy: 212-988-9194.
  • Silk Leaf oval chair (20 by 22 by 38 inches), $400.

  • To Buy: www.brocadehome.com.

Tip: If your vanity has a vintage feel, accessorize accordingly. You can find reproduction 1950s Princess phones for sale online.
