My Madison (Wisconsin): Liz Schumacher
Age: 35.

Occupation: Lobbyist.

I’ve lived here for: 16 years.

I live here because: It’s easy living with great quality. I have easy access to great restaurants, the outdoors, interesting people, and my family.

My neighborhood: Downtown capitol area.

My favorite restaurant: Lombardino’s (www.lombardinos.com).

If you go to this restaurant, be sure to order: The orecchiette pasta with rapini and local Fraboni’s sausage.

My favorite museum: The Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (www.mmoca.org).

My favorite tourist destination: The state capitol (www.wisconsin.gov), because the art, architecture, history, and buzz are amazing.

Best insider spot: Greenbush Bar (608-257-2874) in our historic Italian neighborhood. They have great pizza, with real recipes from the Italian immigrants who founded the area. Greenbush is tied with the Nepali restaurant Himal Chuli (608-251-9225).

Best place to go shopping: Jade Mountain Bead Shop (608-256-5233) and Epoch Vintage Clothing (608-255-2385). J. LaMore (www.jlamore.com) is a unique women’s boutique that sells designer clothing as well as local designers.

When you visit, don’t forget to pack: A warm sweater or a fleece jacket.

But leave room in your suitcase for: Fun clothes you may find at a unique boutique on State, Monroe, or Williamson Streets.

The one local cuisine you should try when you’re in town is: We have good bratwurst. Also, try the local beer, New Glarus Brewing Co. Spotted Cow.

The best way to get around is: Walking.

They say “Virginia is for lovers.” So fill in the blank: Madison is for...an unparalleled quality of life.
