Best Food Processor with the Most Bells and Whistles for Serious Cooks
Magimix 4200 XL, $350
Pros: Made by the French commercial-kitchenware maker Robot Coupe (which developed the prototype
of the Cuisinart in the 1970s), this processor takes up
lots of real estate but can’t be accused of loitering.
It comes with a wide feed tube, five disks, two blades,
a whisk to whip cream and egg whites, a 12-cup bowl, and not one but two mini-bowls. There’s also a box
for storing the smaller parts and a generous 12-year warranty on the motor (others are typically 5 to 10 years). Also available in chrome ($400).
Con: Price and bulk (the machine is 17 inches high,
too large for some under-cabinet spaces); many parts to assemble, clean, and store.
To Buy: Available at select Williams-Sonoma stores.
