Step 1: Drench the Soil
Turn on the waterworks. Using a hose-end or trigger sprayer on a gentle setting, thoroughly wet the soil with at least a gallon of water. This will help flush out excess minerals and salts. Too much buildup of either isn’t good for the health of a plant.
Don’t bug out. A generous watering
will also force out or drown some of
the pests that have taken up residence
over the summer.
Clean up your act. While you’re at it, hose off the outsides of pots. Use a soft brush,
if necessary, to scrub off dirt and debris.
