No two visions of perfection are exactly the same. Here, and in wish lists (shown), the Carters shared premakeover hopes for their own bedroom closets.

Mark requested that his things be "separated from Ursula's stuff." He also asked that his impressive collection of ties be organized and within easy reach, so he can walk into the closet and find the one he needs — fast.

Dylan wanted to be able to reach the things he wears most often, so "I can get my own clothes" without help from Mom.

Griffin asserted his independence by asking to keep his things separate from his older brother's. On his list, he also asked for a bouquet of flowers in his closet (Real Simple left that to Ursula and Mark).

Olivia just wanted to have fun — on the closet floor, with her playthings strewn about her, "like a princess!" (of course).

Ursula didn't ask for perfect, custom-pretty closets, simply for things to be clear and easy when a door is opened. "Anything would be better than what we have," she wrote.
