Step 1: Mark Your Spot
Position the shelf standard (the horizontal mounting bar) where you want it on the wall, using
a level to be sure it’s not crooked. For best support, try to have at least one end of a shelf screwed into a stud. (A stud finder, an electronic device sold in hardware stores, will help you find one. Typically studs are 16 or 24 inches apart.)
Make pencil marks on the wall where you want the screws to go.
