Real Simple testers set to work with more than 70 pairs of scissors, shears, and snips. They cut materials appropriate to each category, making sure the ones that claim to cut through cardboard in seconds did exactly that. Each pair was then rated for cutting precision, sharpness, strength, and comfort. Final picks had to work just as well for both righties and lefties.
