About three dozen trivets of all shapes and sizes underwent several tests. In one, large and small pots and casserole dishes filled with boiling water were repeatedly placed on each trivet straight from the stove to see how sturdily it held up under the weight and how well its finish stood up to prolonged heat. Trivets with handles were tested to see how securely they transported heavy dishes and how comfortable the grips were. Behold, big winners that cover all the bases.
