Family Matters
I would take that time trying to remember the poetic moments from the past: having a Coca-Cola with Granny at the drugstore counter, opening a much anticipated letter from my fiancé, nursing my first baby. That would be more useful to me than spending the last 15 minutes of the day as I usually do: making a mental list of the 101 things I need to do next.

Ideally, I would spend 10 minutes of extra time with my three children and take five minutes for myself. But, being unfamiliar with that concept, I’d probably just sit and think about all the other things I should be doing.

I’d linger in my morning bath 15 minutes longer, enough time to reflect on the day ahead, warm up on a cold morning, and think of all the wonderful things I might get done this day.

I’d work on all my family photo albums that started out so neat and organized 21 years ago. Three children later, those carefully organized books have become a mess of faces, dates, and events with no rhyme or reason. I dream of having the time to lovingly make separate albums for each person in my family.

If I had an extra 15 minutes in my day, I would make menu ideas for a week. Then, when I did the shopping, I’d have it all planned out, and food wouldn’t be wasted.

I’m a photographer and an aspiring collage artist, but my full-time job at an insurance company frequently doesn’t allow me time to pursue my art. It’s a critical piece of balance in my life, so those 15 minutes could go a long way.

I’d use the time to give myself a good manicure. Now that I’m in college, the minutes I need to maintain nicely painted nails are few and far between. Typically my nails are bare, and my brilliant cherry red and moonbeam polishes collect dust.

I would probably fill up the time with more tasks that I do already. What I really need is 15 days away from my house to read, take long walks, and sleep.
