Negotiating a price should be a painless experience for both
shopper and seller.
Assume you can bargain. The purpose of a tag sale is to get rid
of stuff. To start, ask, "Would you consider taking less for this?"
Approach the seller with a good attitude. Be polite, and don't be
pushy. Don't start out by suggesting an insultingly low price.
The deeper into the sale, the easier it is to bargain. Later in
the day, prices drop as sale hosts feel more pressure to sell.
Buy in multiples. You're more likely to get a better bargain if
you're buying more than one thing. Ask the seller, "What price can
you give me for everything?"
Know your price. Before you start bargaining, think about what
you want to spend. Be willing to buy an item if it is offered to
you at that price. If you walk away from an item after you've
negotiated a price, you will probably annoy the sale holder.
