"Divide and label" is Sarah Sirlin's philosophy. "It's the key to
being organized," says the 32-year-old graphic designer in
Pittsburgh, who runs her stationery business, DSIX Design, out of
her home. She believes in low-tech labels. "I write on the sticky
part of a Post-it note and cut it to approximately 1 1/2 by 1/2
inch," says Sirlin, who also labels the fronts of shelves and
storage boxes in a large cabinet, as well as the two-inch-deep
drawers of her Bisley filing cabinet. "Computer
labels would look better, but I want my system to save me time,
not create more work for me."
