A. Use a green drain cleaner with enzymes. Try Earth Friendly Products’ Earth Enzymes Drain Opener ($9, www.ecos.com). It is biodegradable, contains no chemicals that can crack or rust pipes, and uses natural enzymes to break down soap and other clog-inducing organic material. Make a solution of two quarts warm water and two cups of the powder. Pour the solution into the drain, let it work for 24 hours (or at least overnight), then rinse with hot water.
