At the height of summer, it's easy to think man could live on
barbecue alone, but there may come a time when you have to shut
down the patio and the grill. Good thing you don't have to throw
away your leftover sauce, too. Here are ways to use it all year
long.
Add a few spoonfuls to your favorite chili and meat-loaf recipes
(as a substitute for tomato paste or ketchup).
Mix it into the filling for crab cakes; the delicate sweetness of
the crab is nicely spiked by the tang of the sauce. Use about 1
tablespoon of sauce for every 2 cups of crabmeat.
Whisk a little into vinaigrette or another dressing to give a
salad a southwestern touch.
Combine with ground turkey for especially flavorful and moist
turkey burgers. Use about 1 teaspoon per 1/4-pound patty.
Toss roasted red peppers with barbecue sauce and use them in
salads or to top pizzas.
Spread it on sandwiches especially clubs, grilled chicken, and
shrimp po' boys.
Toss a couple of teaspoons into coleslaw to give the creamy,
refreshing side dish a spicy bite.
