For Kids
Cover the table with wrapping paper or butcher paper.
Throw a handful of crayons in a few Chinese-food takeout containers, so the kids can color right on the tablecloth.
Use paper plates, paper napkins, recyclable utensils, and cups.
Serve clear beverages, like water or white grape juice, to avoid stains.
Serve bite-sized foods.
Use stick-on letters (available at office-supply stores) for place settings.
Create sweet centerpieces by covering upturned shoe or gift boxes with bright paper and then poking lollipops into them, so that they stand upright.
