For a clean, even line, you need a well-sharpened pencil, plus a quality sharpener. Your best bet is to use the one that came with your pencil. “It’s guaranteed to fit,” says Troy Surratt, global consulting makeup artist for Maybelline New York.
If the pencil didn’t come with its own sharpener, invest in a stand-alone one. A double-sided sharpener, which has two holes (to accommodate thick and thin pencils), is a good choice.
