Bill Phelps
Method: Hot Wax
Best For: All types of hair, including coarse and thick; its syrupy texture adheres well to any strands. Works on all body parts, from the face to the legs.
Pros: Hair is pulled out by the roots, so the results last three to six weeks. And as with any wax, regrowth may become finer and lighter with regular use.
Cons: Major pain. “Dust the area with powder to prevent hot wax from pulling the skin,” says Cindy Barshop, owner of the Completely Bare Salon, in New York City and Palm Beach, Florida. Hair should be 1/4 inch long before waxing.
