Use a pencil, a tape measure, and a level to mark the spot where you want to hang the hook rack (make pencil dots where the screws should go). "If you have drywall and are spanning more than three feet with the rack, it's a good idea to use a stud finder and mount at least one side of the peg rack into a stud," says Karen Thompson, a designer at an Atlanta-area Home Depot. When you're mounting into a stud, use a drill to start the hole, then switch to a Phillips screwdriver to install the screws. If you're not mounting into a stud, be sure to use anchors that match the screws. (For drywall, use E-Z Ancors
www.homedepot.com and for plaster walls, opt for expandable toggle bolts.) Before fully screwing in the rack, use the level again to make sure it's truly horizontal.
