Every time you open the coat closet, the broom comes tumbling out — along with the soccer ball and the knit cap you haven't worn in a decade. A good hanging system, whether high-end or low-end, will keep brooms handy when you need them and off the ground (so the bristles don't bend or break) when you don't.

Best: The Clincher, $59
Why We Like It: Five spring-loaded clamps grip any size broom on this slick stainless-steel rack painted fire-engine red or silver sage. Four hooks and a four-inch-deep shelf provide additional storage for those without a utility closet. Hang it on the back of a door, in the garage, or in a mudroom.
To Buy: Restoration Hardware, www.restorationhardware.com.

Better: Magic Mop and Broom Holder, $14
Why We Like It: Equipped with grips that adjust to all broom sizes, this 17 1?2-inch plastic strip is a space saver that is easily hung with a few screws.
To Buy: Organize-It, www.organizes-it.com. Also available with just three slots ($11).

Good: Mop and Broom Hook, $7 for two
Why We Like It: If a nail in the wall seems too rustic, you can mount one of these white plastic rings in the laundry room, a closet, or a kitchen corner. An adhesive tab anchors it to the wall. Slip in any size broomstick and the inner rubber ring will hold it.
To Buy: Stacks and Stacks, www.stacksandstacks.com.
