Problem: Stubborn zipper
Solution:
  • If it sticks: Rub the trouble spot with a dry, waxy lubricant, like a candle, lip balm, or soap. "But don't get any on the fabric — it can stain," says Kathy Reuter, a family-economics educator at the University of Illinois extension program, in Countryside, Illinois.

  • If it slides too far down and has to be fished out of a seam: Sew across the zipper — teeth and all — at the point you'd like it to stop.
