THIS METHOD ALSO WORKS FOR SLICING PAPAYA
1. Using a chef's knife, halve the avocado lengthwise, then twist the two halves apart.
2. To remove the pit, hold the avocado firmly and whack the knife into the pit. Do this with conviction, so the knife doesn't slip off the pit. Twist the knife to pull the pit out.
3. Use the tip of a paring knife to score the flesh, then scoop it out with a spoon. The avocado comes out already diced for salads or guacamole.
