  • Like all dried herbs, oregano should be stored in a cool, dark place, where it will retain its flavor for 6 months to 1 year. After that, it will start to lose its pungency.
  • As with most spices, dried oregano is much stronger than its fresh counterpart. If a recipe calls for 1 tablespoon fresh oregano, substitute 1 teaspoon dried.
